Bella checking out the backpacks.
Now we are home...Caroline, Diane and the Bubbies. Firecracker and Tidy Camper have hung up their hiking shoes and have not desired to slip back into them. They are resting but their other selves are gearing up to resume life as it once was. Sleeping in their comfortable bed is so restful. They can spread out and are not trapped in tapered mummy bags sliding around on rubber ducky material. Diane is cooking fabulous organic everything. She is happy to be back in the kitchen creating mouthwatering dishes. Caroline is happy to be eating it all. Bella was happy to see us and did not display any resentful angry behavior. She seemed to be expecting our return. Our reunion was sweet and we are grateful she received such fabulous care. Diane now knows she is allergic to Bella. In our 6 months living outside there wasn't any sneezing or nose issues. Now there are. Such are the sacrifices we make to be able to live with our blue-eyed baby tiger.
As for exercise, the Bubbies are not hiking they are jumping on a rebounder (a small trampoline) because Caroline has a knee that is doing all it can to keep her from running and Diane's fused ankle can withstand the low impact of springy material. It's a good device to maintain core strength while having a riotous time flying through the air. The Bubs are back climbing and are thrilled to feel their upper torso come alive. Their legs are so strong they are thinking of doing the Tour de France. Riding their bikes has become much easier. Lactic acid build-up is absent even when they go straight up hill. Legs 'R'Us.
Our friend Nancy G. sent Caroline an article on contrails written by an professor of environmental studies. He doesn't call them chemtrails but what he saw and described are the very same phenomena that Firecracker saw. He said there were gases and soot in them and that they were indeed trying to cool things down but that basically we do not know what the long term affects are. He mentions that we did not know that refrigerators and cars and air conditioners and heating would cause our climate to change but they did and now we are adding one more thing. Whether these trails are different than chemtrails remains to be discovered by me but whatever THEY are doing is NUTS. How can we possibly try to control the climate? Who is behind this foolish, unreasonable, ignorant idea? It must be about money.
First breakfast back home: omelette by Caroline, fried tomatoes, feta sausage, chard and sourdough bread. Yum!
So we are back. Diane is learning a new Point of sale program at Pacific Edge where she goes in everyday for a few hours and Caroline is trying to find a way to work, study, play piano and ukelele, learn Chinese and maybe do more writing. It's a bit much for her to fathom so she is doing a lot of sleeping and moping around waiting for some lightning or flash floods to make her jump into some kind of action. She is reluctant to organize her life yet again. To compartmentalize every little thing...While doing the PCT there was only one thing to do now there are a million things. She may need help. Any volunteers?
I will share with you some of the gems we learned on the trail in my next blog then say farewell. For now, hang onto your sanity by breathing a lot, and slowing everything down.
I love you two. Thank you for these penultimate bits of philosophy, Caroline.
ReplyDeleteHope your knee mends and Di's ankle loosens up. May you keep writing, though what for the subject? A scattered indoor life? Hugs and kisses.
